The author of two other acclaimed novels and a lot of stories, McGowin, who is aging like a mofo, has been using New Orleans as Home Base while writing this book on the Road, a chapter a night from different places with his Companion, a Lady of Some Years. This way, the cops won't know the whereabouts of McGowin, hockey fan, any more than you will. He and his Companion will have sex with a different Transient every night.
