Last Poems & Lost Letters of C. Earl Nelson

C. Earl Nelson with daughter Katlynn

A selection of previously unpublished poems and correspondence from C. Earl Nelson.

From the poem "pour faire resonner la tete":

at onehundred-five farenheit
a good man loses better judgement.

kill the fucker, the carpet tells me,
   kill the fucker good;
rip out his tongue,
   feed it to the labrador bitch over there . . .
what she dont eat the pup will down.
   i only ask that you bleed him
over me first, this heat has me parched.

in the kitchen our airconditioner labors
against a july heatwave;

half midnight, still eightyeight degrees,
   rain coming down
in sheets—twentyfour days, no alcohol.

thirtyone yrs, no peace.

C. Earl Nelson's work has appeared in numerous little magazines, most recently in Oyster Boy Review 8.

To be published.
